THE RESULTS OF REAL SALVATION |
THE RESULTS OF REAL SALVATION
As we approach the end of the Church age it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell the difference between real Christians and false Christians. Many are claiming to be born-again who do not have the marks of a Christian. Real Christians are being deceived into fellowshipping with and promoting those who make a profession of Christianity. Much confusion exists and real Christians need to put those who profess Christ to the test before counting them among the redeemed. The Bible makes it very clear that true Bible Salvation brings with it certain results in the life (II Co. 5:17). One who is really saved will follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me“ (John 10: 27). The believer will always want to know more about the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. The false Christian will know very little about Christ and he does not engage himself in finding out. He may say a few nice things about Christ, but he is not following Him.
Another thing that is very noticeable about a real Christian is that he is departing from sin. Jesus came to “save his people from their sins“ (Matt. 1:21). Paul told Timothy that “everyone that nameth the name of Christ “should“ depart from iniquity“ (II Tim. 2:19). The real believer will be overcoming sin in his life by the power of the Holy Spirit who has come to abide with him forever. The false believer will continue to be sensual, having not the Spirit. He will profess to be a Christian, but will continue to live the way he always has.
One of the things that marks a true Christian today is that he will spend much time in the Bible. Because he is saved he will have a sincere desire for the “milk of the word“ that he may “grow thereby“ (I Pet. 2:2). The false Christian will spend little time in the Bible because it is a spiritual book and he is not spiritual (I Co. 2:14). When a person is really saved he will leave the false teachers and false doctrines which he once held and seek out a fundamental Bible church where he can be taught the truths of the Word of God. The false believer today will be marked by the fact that he stays with the false teachers and the false doctrines.
The conversion experiences that are being proffered to us today by many are a farce. The real Christian will tell you that he was a lost, Hell-bound sinner, and that he called on the Lord Jesus Christ to save him. The false believer will talk about an experience or an encounter with God. He will say that he met the Lord or that he was overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit but you are waiting to hear him say, “I was a lost sinner on my way to Hell and the Lord Jesus Christ saved me“. The reason that he does not say so is because he does not really believe that; and what he is telling you does not add up to Bible conversion.
The true believer will be making every effort to get other people saved. The false believer will be talking to people about God or religion, and he will not be much concerned if people do not take him serious. Another certain mark of a real Christian is that he will have God’s love flowing through him to other fundamental, Bible believing Christians. Our Lord said, “by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another“ (John 13:35). The false believer will not have God’s love flowing through him toward fundamental, Bible believing Christ¬ians. Rather, he will despise them, because they stand as a testimony against his faked faith.
While the results of real salvation are usually evident in the life of a real Christian, it is possible that one may be truly saved without such results being evident. It should be understood that this is unusual and that it is a temporary condition caused by lack of proper teaching or a refusal to yield the life to the Lord.
