CHURCH HISTORY:

32 YEAR OLD MINISTRY WITH SAME PASTOR

        In 1975 Pastor Gary L. Freeman graduated from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, Owatonna, MN.  He and his father, Paul L. Freeman, started the Bethlehem Bible Church in Bethlehem, PA on Feb. 1, 1976.  A year later they moved the church out of town and called it, Fundamental Bible Church.  The next year they purchased the current building in a little suburb town of Allentown, PA called Catasauqua.  A few years later they renamed the church as Race Street Baptist Church.  Pastor Freeman married a childhood friend, Donna M. Stoudt on June 10, 1978.  During door to door visitation, Donna's father and mother were led to the Lord by Pastor Freeman's father back when he pastored a church in the East Stroudsburg area.  The Freeman and Stoudt families grew up together and the Lord was leading to bring these two individuals together.  As husband and wife, Gary and Donna have been serving within the Race Street Baptist Church for 32 years.  They have two children, Jason, our pianist, (married to Amanda Cary) and Rachel (married to Mark Reno) who are serving the Lord together at Mark's home Church, Bible Brethren Church, Hagerstown, MD.  There are now two grandsons, Caleb Freeman and Stephen Reno added to the family as well.

          The Race Street Baptist Church has been used of the Lord over these many years to bring many souls to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  A good number have moved on to other ministries and are continuing to serve the Lord.  The Church practices a unique ministry by primarily preaching from the pulpit in a "Verse by Verse" method, commonly called "Expository Preaching."  Church members have become grounded in the Faith and are able to apply the Scriptures to their daily life in order to meet the many challenges with which our modern world confronts them.  The Church is not a multi-program oriented ministry but opportunities are available to serve: Elders, Deacon board, Sunday School, Ushers, Nursery, Missions service, Witnessing, Tracts, Visitation, Book Table, Library, Website, Sound System, Service attendance, Prayer Meetings, Evangelistic and Special Meetings, Volunteerism, Building & Grounds, Church Building Cleaning, Etc.
