HOW TO BE SAVED
When God created the world around 6,000 years ago everything was perfect (Genesis 1:31). There was no curse, death, sickness or evil. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden that resulted in death and all the ills in our evil society today (Genesis 2:17). Also God cursed the earth because of man’s sin resulting in natural disasters and tragedies such as storms, floods, earthquakes etc. (Genesis 3:17-19). Sinful man is the cause of all the trouble in the world today. Man needs a Savior who can save him from sin and hell. Hell was prepared for the Devil, but men will go there also if they die rejecting God’s gracious plan of salvation (Matthew 25:41).
God is holy and He will not have fellowship with sin and sinners (Habbukuk 1:13). Therefore, in order to live forever with God in heaven, men must somehow get rid of sin and it’s penalty, which is death (Romans 6:23).
God is a triune God. There are 3 persons within this Godhead: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (I John. 5:7). Before God created the world, He knew ahead of time how man would sin against Him and planned then to provide a way to save man from sin, death and hell (Revelation 13:8). The triune God determined that the Father would send His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to die as a sacrifice for sin. Jesus took the place, as a substitute, for sinners and paid the price for sin, which is death. God then conquered death when Jesus rose up from the grave the third day (I Corinthans 15:1-4). So we have the Father loving sinners so much that He sent the Son into the world to pay the price for man’s sin so men could be saved and have everlasting life in heaven (John. 3:16). Now, the Spirit is convicting men in their hearts that they should respond to God’s offer of salvation (John. 16:7-8). God’s plan to save men, as stated in the Bible, is simple.
1. A sinner must admit that he is a sinner in need of salvation (Romans 3:10,11,23).
2. A sinner must admit that he cannot save himself by good works (Romans 3:28; 4:6).
3. A sinner must admit that unless he gets saved from sin he will die and go to hell (Luke 16:23).
4. A sinner must admit that God sent Jesus to save him from his sin (Romans 5:8; 6:23).
5. A sinner must admit that Jesus Christ died for his sins (Romans 5:8)
6. A sinner must admit that Jesus rose up from the grave to provide eternal life to those who would believe in Him as their Savior (Romans 10:9).
7. A sinner must call upon the name of the Lord to be saved (Romans 10:13).
If you realize your need to be saved pray a prayer like the following, and if you are sincere, God will save you and give you eternal life and take you to heaven when you die. Pray something like this:
“Dear God, I know that I am a sinner. I know the Bible says I deserve to go to hell, but I know that you love me and sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sin. I now admit that I am a sinner and cannot save myself. I have committed many sins such as: lying, cheating, doing and thinking evil things, and disobeying what I know is right. Now I know that Jesus Christ paid for all my sin on the cross. I now trust Jesus Christ as my Savior. Thank you for saving me right now and helping me to live for you until I die and go to heaven to be with you. In Jesus name, Amen.
If you have just now trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior you should let someone who cares know that you have done this. We would like to know. We can offer you some help to grow in your knowledge of Jesus Christ. That is important. You also need to start going to a good Bible believing church and start living for the Lord, who just saved you. You should get baptized (Acts 2:41), not to get saved, because you are saved already, but to publicly profess that you have trusted Jesus Christ, who died, was buried and rose again to provide salvation for you. That is why baptism is an immersing (submerging) in water and then coming back up out of the water. It symbolizes death, burial and resurrection. Why not E-mail Pastor Gary Freeman now to let him know you got saved?
